Penguin: Who or what always puts a smile on your face?
Lesley: My dogs and my grandson.

Penguin: What are you reading at the moment?
Lesley: Poisoned Lives by Katherine Watson.

Penguin: Which author do you most admire?
Lesley: Charles Dickens.

Penguin: What's your earliest memory?
Lesley: My father building a car out of sand at Tenby. He said I couldn't possibly remember as I was only 2 and a half, but I do.

Penguin: What is your greatest fear?
Lesley: Debt.

Penguin: How would you like to be remembered?
Lesley: As being warm and funny.

Penguin: Have you even done something you've really regretted?
Lesley: Lots of times, usually to men.

Penguin: How do you spoil yourself?
Lesley: Perfume and glamorous undies.

Penguin: What's your favourite word/book?
Lesley: Yes is my favourite word. Book? Of all time, Gone with the Wind, but there are others I love for different reasons. The Prophet by Kahil Gibran. Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons.

Penguin: Who do you turn to in a crisis?
Lesley: My girlfriend Jo Prosser who I've known for 40 years.

Penguin: What makes you angry?
Lesley: Lack of loyalty.

Penguin: Have you ever had any other jobs apart from writing?
Lesley: Too many to mention. We're talking about a serial jobsmith here.

Penguin: Are you in love?
Lesley: Only with my dogs at present. Oh and my garden.

Penguin: What's your worst vice?
Lesley: Talking too much.

Penguin: What are you proudest of?
Lesley: My three daughters.

Penguin: Where do you write?
Lesley: In my office. And in my head while I'm walking the dogs or gardening.

Penguin: Where's your favourite city?
Lesley: Bristol. I fell in love with it over 30 years ago and I'm still in love.

Penguin: When was the last time you cried?
Lesley: Ten minutes ago watching baby Billy's funeral on Coronation Street.

Penguin: One wish; what would it be?
Lesley: That my girls would fall in love and stay happily with him forever.

Penguin: Did you enjoy school?
Lesley: Mostly but I was always in trouble. I didn't learn much, but it was better than home.

Penguin: What do you believe in most?
